Privacy Policy & Terms of Use for HContacts Backup

This document describes how we ("our," or "us") handle information and set the terms for using the HContacts Backup mobile application (the "Application").

Privacy Policy

1. Information Collection and Use

Contacts, Call Log, and SMS Data (100% Offline Processing)

HContacts Backup is designed to create secure, private backups of your personal communication data. The Application is strictly 100% offline and operates without an internet connection.

• Contacts: Names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, and optional photos.
• Call Log: Incoming, outgoing, missed, rejected, and blocked calls.
• SMS & MMS: Inbox and sent messages.

All data is processed and stored locally on your device in the form of snapshots, zipped JSON files, or CSV exports. We do not collect, transmit, share, sell, or analyze your personal data off your device.

Device and Usage Information

Because the app does not connect to the internet, we do not collect any technical usage data, analytics, crash reports, or IP addresses.

2. Permissions

HContacts Backup requests access to sensitive data for the sole purpose of creating and restoring your personal backups at your request. The following permissions are required:

• CONTACTS (READ/WRITE) — to back up your contacts and restore them to your device.
• CALL LOG (READ/WRITE) — to include your complete call history in the backup and restore it if necessary.
• SMS (READ/WRITE) — to include your text and MMS messages in the backup.
• STORAGE — to save the zipped JSON backup files and CSV exports to your device's local storage.

3. Third-Party Services

HContacts Backup does not use any third-party services, analytics trackers, cloud servers, or advertising networks. Your data remains entirely within the isolated environment of your device.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

• Your created backups (JSON and CSV files) remain securely on your device or wherever you choose to transfer them (e.g., an SD card or computer).
• You can modify, clean up, or delete individual entries from your backup snapshots directly within the app.
• Uninstalling the app may remove the app's internal database snapshots, but any explicitly exported backup files saved to your general device storage will remain until you manually delete them.

5. Data Security

Your backup files are stored locally. The security of this data depends entirely on your device's protection methods, such as a screen lock, system security, and device encryption. We encourage you to keep your device secure to protect your exported files.

6. Children’s Privacy

The Application is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted in an updated version of this document.

Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using HContacts Backup, you agree to these Terms of Use.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Application.

2. Use of the Application

You agree to use the Application only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

You must not:

• Use the Application in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the Application, except where permitted by law.
• Interfere with the functionality, integrity, or security of the Application.

3. User Data Responsibility

Your backups, contacts, call logs, and messages are managed solely by you. You are responsible for:

• Choosing a secure location to save your exported JSON and CSV backup files.
• Verifying the accuracy of your restored data to ensure duplicates or unintended overrides do not occur.
• Safeguarding your device to protect your private data snapshots.

We are not responsible for accidental data loss, deletion, corruption, or modification occurring on your device during the backup or restore process.

4. Third-Party Services

While HContacts Backup is completely offline, you may choose to share or export your data files (such as to Google Contacts or via a file sharing app). We are not responsible for the data practices of any external services you choose to use to handle your exported files.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Application is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

We do not guarantee that:

• The Application will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
• Any defects will be corrected.
• The Application will perfectly restore every custom device-specific contact field across different Android manufacturer versions.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to data loss, device issues, loss of profits, or other losses arising out of or related to your use of the Application.

7. Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Application at any time, without prior notice, if necessary.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Your continued use of the Application after any update means that you accept the revised Terms.
